Project Overview
- Project Name: Project No. PW1250408730
- Location: Thailand
- System Process: UPW: MMF + UF + 2RO + EDI; Reuse: MMF + ACF + SOF + ROR
- Production Capacity: 2×15 m³/h pure water + 15 m³/h wastewater reuse
- Water Quality Standard: Ultrapure water (EDI polishing); reuse water for plant recycling
System Scope:
- 2 × 15 m³/h pure water systems: MMF + UF + 2RO + EDI
- 15 m³/h wastewater reuse system: MMF + ACF + SOF + ROR
Client Profile
The end client is a world-leading supplier of protective cover glass for smartphones and consumer electronics, operating large-scale precision glass processing facilities in Southeast Asia. High-purity rinse water directly affects product quality in cover glass manufacturing.
In accordance with the client’s confidentiality requirements, the customer name is withheld in this case study and the project is referenced by its contract number.
Technical Note: Process Terms
For your reference, here is a breakdown of the technical process mentioned:
- MMF: Multi-Media Filter — removes suspended solids and turbidity from feed water through layered filtration media (anthracite, sand and garnet).
- UF: Ultrafiltration — a membrane filtration stage that removes colloids, bacteria, viruses and fine particles, delivering stable, low-SDI feed water for reverse osmosis.
- 2RO: Two-stage Reverse Osmosis — two RO passes in series, producing water of significantly higher purity and lower conductivity.
- EDI: Electrodeionization — a continuous, chemical-free polishing process that combines ion exchange with electrical regeneration to produce high-resistivity water.
- ACF: Activated Carbon Filter — removes residual chlorine, organic matter, color and odor to protect downstream membranes and ion-exchange resins.
- SOF: Softener — an ion-exchange unit that removes hardness ions (Ca²⁺ and Mg²⁺) to prevent scaling on downstream RO membranes.
- ROR: RO Reuse/Recovery Loop — a reverse-osmosis-based recovery system that reclaims wastewater or concentrate streams for reuse, reducing overall water consumption.
