Project Overview
- Project Name: Project No. PW1250205727
- Location: Van Trung Industrial Park, Bac Giang Province, Vietnam
- System Process: UPW: MMF + ACF + 2RO + EDI + TOC + SMB; Reuse: ACF + UF + RO
- Production Capacity: 20 T/H ultrapure water + 16 T/H reuse water
- Water Quality Standard: Semiconductor-grade ultrapure water (TOC-controlled)
System Scope:
- 20 T/H ultrapure water system: MMF + ACF + 2RO + EDI + TOC + SMB
- 16 T/H reuse-water system: ACF + UF + RO
Client Profile
The end client operates an advanced semiconductor packaging (SiP) facility in Vietnam, producing system-in-package modules for a leading American RF semiconductor company. Semiconductor-grade ultrapure water with strict TOC control is indispensable to the packaging process.
In accordance with the client’s confidentiality requirements, the customer name is withheld in this case study and the project is referenced by its contract number.
Technical Note: Process Terms
For your reference, here is a breakdown of the technical process mentioned:
- MMF: Multi-Media Filter — removes suspended solids and turbidity from feed water through layered filtration media (anthracite, sand and garnet).
- ACF: Activated Carbon Filter — removes residual chlorine, organic matter, color and odor to protect downstream membranes and ion-exchange resins.
- 2RO: Two-stage Reverse Osmosis — two RO passes in series, producing water of significantly higher purity and lower conductivity.
- EDI: Electrodeionization — a continuous, chemical-free polishing process that combines ion exchange with electrical regeneration to produce high-resistivity water.
- TOC: TOC Reducer — an ultraviolet oxidation stage that destroys trace organic compounds to keep total organic carbon at ultrapure levels.
- SMB: Secondary Mixed Bed — a polishing mixed-bed ion exchanger, typically the final stage that lifts water resistivity to 18 MΩ·cm.
- UF: Ultrafiltration — a membrane filtration stage that removes colloids, bacteria, viruses and fine particles, delivering stable, low-SDI feed water for reverse osmosis.
- RO: Reverse Osmosis — a semi-permeable membrane process that removes 95–99% of dissolved salts, along with most organic matter and bacteria.
