Technical Note: Process Terms
For your reference, here is a breakdown of the technical process mentioned:
- MMF: Multi-Media Filter — removes suspended solids and turbidity from feed water through layered filtration media (anthracite, sand and garnet).
- ACF: Activated Carbon Filter — removes residual chlorine, organic matter, color and odor to protect downstream membranes and ion-exchange resins.
- SOF: Softener — an ion-exchange unit that removes hardness ions (Ca²⁺ and Mg²⁺) to prevent scaling on downstream RO membranes.
- 1RO: Single-stage Reverse Osmosis — one pass of reverse osmosis for salt removal.
