Project Overview

  • Project Name: Project No. PW1-16316
  • Location: Thailand
  • System Process: UF + RO + EDI + SMB
  • Production Capacity: 40 T/H (m³/h)
  • Water Quality Standard: Ultrapure water, 18 MΩ·cm class (EDI + mixed-bed polishing)

Client Profile

The end client is a leading global photovoltaic manufacturer, one of the top names in solar cell and module production, with an overseas manufacturing base in Southeast Asia. Ultrapure water is essential to cell and wafer processing, where water purity directly affects conversion efficiency and product yield.

In accordance with the client’s confidentiality requirements, the customer name is withheld in this case study and the project is referenced by its contract number.

Technical Note: Process Terms

For your reference, here is a breakdown of the technical process mentioned:

  • UF: Ultrafiltration — a membrane filtration stage that removes colloids, bacteria, viruses and fine particles, delivering stable, low-SDI feed water for reverse osmosis.
  • RO: Reverse Osmosis — a semi-permeable membrane process that removes 95–99% of dissolved salts, along with most organic matter and bacteria.
  • EDI: Electrodeionization — a continuous, chemical-free polishing process that combines ion exchange with electrical regeneration to produce high-resistivity water.
  • SMB: Secondary Mixed Bed — a polishing mixed-bed ion exchanger, typically the final stage that lifts water resistivity to 18 MΩ·cm.
